Roblox 3D Models

With the addition of MeshParts in Roblox, you can now import and export your own 3D models from Roblox Studio into various 3D editing tools such as Blender or Cinema 4D and vice-versa. 3D modelling on Roblox has begun to get more popular and using it can make your games look more realistic and unique. So how exactly do you create 3D models or even find them for your game?

There are many websites on the internet which allow you to search for and download your own 3D models for use in your game. You can choose from many different file types, however at the moment Roblox Studio only accepts .fbx files, however, in the future I believe that they are going to expand this. Not to worry though, there are still lots of 3D models available in .fbx form which will suit your needs all over the web.

Something which you also need to be concerned about are viruses. Some websites are set up just to bait you into downloading viruses and they do this by sneakily inserting them into your models, so you need to make sure that you are downloading your models from a trusted source.

Once you’ve found your 3D model file, you can insert it by inserting a MeshPart into Roblox Studio from the Insert Objects menu and then clicking on the Insert button in the MeshID property:

If you want to create your own 3D models, you can do so by downloading programs such as Blender or CInema 4D. Some of these programs are expensive, so it’s good to start off with a free one like Blender and see if 3D modelling is for you. Did you know that you can make a carrer out of 3D modelling? Companies rely on 3D modelling to create prototype models such as car companies, so having knowledge in 3D modelling is never a bad thing.
